13C Faaiza Feroz: Process for Website

The website was solely created by me. I used "Wix" to create this website for our documentary. The original template of the website looked liked this:

I changed the "Development" heading to say "Cast + Crew" instead and then I got rid of the "Trailers" page as it was irrelevant for our website. I also changed the text saying "Electric Films" to our production company's name, which is "Polygon Productions". I changed the colour of the line under the production company name to blue and the 3 squares vertically beside it to red. I also made the font of "Polygon Productions" more visible and easier to read. The current version now looks like this:

The initial design of the website looked like this, with featured films made by the production company along with the dates they were released.

I used the same concept by creating 5 film posters for our production company, using photoshop. The documentary we created as part of our coursework is also featured as one of the film posters. I changed the colours of the text and banner behind the text, as well as the boxes, to fit our colour scheme and make sure each page is consistent. I also included the release dates for each of our documentaries/short films.

The initial page included news updates with a the date of each update on the left hand side. The headings are in bold and also a different colour to stand out against the background.

I made the title all in caps lock for a greater effect and I changed the banner behind the title, "In The News" from black to blue to fit our colour scheme accordingly. I also changed each update so that it based around the documentary that we created.

This initial section is adjacent to the "In The News" section. This is the section that I changed from "Development" to "Cast + Crew".

The first step I did was to change the title using the text tool. I then changed the colour of the banner behind it to red to match the colour scheme and keep with the consistency. I added in a mini pop-up gallery of the main cast and crew of BETA. When you click on each picture it will open up in to a magnified image. The frames around each picture are circular.

The initial layout appeared with the logo of each social media and a bar to say where to follow the production company.

I added in the handle name for each social media platform, which in this case is Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. I also changed the title to all capital letters and the banner behind the title to blue.

The original "Awards" section placed all the awards the production company in a horizontal line to make it clear, easily visible and professional.

The only change between the original layout and our layout is the "Awards" box. I changed the colour of the banner behind the awards to red colour that was used across the rest of website. I also changed the colour of the writing to white to make it more prominent.

This is what the original footer looked like at the bottom of the page. There is a social media bar with social media links, on the right hand side, to click on to follow the production company, and on the left hand side is the name of the production company and the website builder is was created with.

The changes made between the original template and our website is the name of the production company and the removal of the name of the website builder. Our social media bar remained the same and I added links to all our social media so when the website user clicks on one of the logos, it will instantly take them to the respective social media platforms.

ABOUT/CONTACT

The original page included placeholder text to temporarily fill up the space and a quote, which makes the page look quite plain and dull.

I changed the colour of the banner behind the word "About" from black to blue and also made all of the letters in caps lock. I also changed the quote, font and colour to match the theme of our documentary and colour scheme. I created a collage with 8 various shots from our documentary to keep the users engaged as they explore our website.

The contact sub-section within the "About" page includes the address, telephone number and fax of the production company as well as an area to send an email to the production company and a quote.

The elements I changed in this section are: the colour of the banner behind the words "Contact", all the simple letters to capital letters, the colour of the "Send" box and the quote along with it's font and colour.

Films

The initial layout includes a film poster from a film created by the production company with a box adjacent to it, providing a plot summary and the names of the directors, etc.

Cast + Crew

The original layout was based on development of the films of the production company. This included all the films that are "Coming Soon".

I changed the top half of the layout accordingly as this section is for the cast and crew of BETA instead of the development of the production company alone. I included a picture of each member of the crew in Polygon Productions and each cast member. I also added a message from the Director of BETA, which Adrian contributed as he is the main Director for our documentary.

In addition to that, I included behind the scenes images to give the website users an insight to what went on whilst producing and editing the documentary. I made the gallery appear 3D and interactive, so each user can switch between each picture.

News

The news updates provided are all based around the production company and an image is included as well as the date the event will happen or has happened.

I used the same concept in creating this page, except instead of basing all the new around the production company, I based it on our documentary: BETA.
